What This Masterclass Is:  

An intensive, full-day draping experience designed for beginners, decorators and draping specialists who want to elevate their skill set, confidence, and execution.

 

This is a demonstration-heavy, hands-on class focused on technique, structure, and professional workflow.  No printed worksheets – all techniques are taught live to protect the integrity and originality of the work.

 

What to Bring & Know Before You Arrive:

Clean running shoes (required)

Please attend only if you are healthy no flu’s or colds - if you are sick we will reschedule for November 2026.

Be prepared for physical work

Proper lifting and ladder safety will be taught and enforced

Draping Techniques Covered

 

1. Ceremony Backdrops (Sheer Fabric)

Straight drop vs. ceremony styling + pillars

Why a backing is always required

Clean finishes, structure, measuring

 

2. Velvet Backdrops (Small Ceremony Scale)

Working with velvet

Using extra-long tablecloths as drape fabric

Managing weight, folds, and fullness

 

3. Table Draping & Table Scapes

Draping plastic rectangle table with either velvet or sheer in front of one of your backdrops - your choice.

Creating one table scape with a centrepiece and candles (fresh flowers that we will also design and will be yours to bring home)

Table scape you will have charger plates/ glassware and napkins to choose from - I will offer several options.

 

Professional photographer on site to photograph your design (1 backdrop and tables cape) design

You may use photos of your completed work for marketing

 

Lunch BreakCharcuterie boards / light appetizers / beverages provided.

 

Afternoon Session

 

4. Full-Size Draping Installations Artistic vs. classic/fancy style in sheer voile

Both styles demonstrated

Students choose which style to execute
